Understanding your payslip
Check your payslip every month and contact Phantom when any item is unclear.
Before you start
- Your payslip is an official record of your work and payment for a specific month.
- Keep every payslip.
- Do not send your payslip to unauthorized people because it includes personal information.
- Compare the payslip with your own hour record and with the amount received in your bank account.
What to check
1. Worker and employer details
Check your name, passport or ID number, employer name, pay month, work period and start date when it appears.
2. Work days and hours
Check work days, regular hours, overtime, weekly rest-day work, holiday, sick leave, absences and travel items. The way each item appears may change by payslip format.
3. Payment items
Your payslip may show base pay, overtime, rest-day work, holiday, sick leave, recuperation pay, travel, differences from previous months or other payments. Not every item appears every month.
4. Deductions
Deductions may include income tax, National Insurance, medical insurance, accommodation, permitted deductions or previous-month corrections. Ask Phantom about every deduction you do not understand.
5. Gross, deductions and net
Gross is the total before deductions. Deductions are amounts subtracted on the payslip. Net is the final amount to be paid and should usually match your bank transfer.
Monthly checklist
- Check that your name and the month are correct.
- Compare days and hours with your own record.
- Check overtime and additional payments.
- Review every deduction.
- Check the net amount.
- Compare it with the bank transfer.
- Save the payslip.
What to send Phantom when you have a question
- Full name.
- Passport number or worker number, when needed.
- Payslip month.
- A clear photo of the payslip.
- Your hour record or the dates in question.
- A short, precise explanation of the question.
- A bank screenshot only when relevant, with unnecessary information hidden.
